I liked the book, it was well written and an easy read. The contrast between the time that Alexander McKensie and the author took the trip was very interesting. Many of the problems experienced two hundred years ago were still there today. I still don't understand how the voyagers did in those days things that still so hard to do today. I can not think of anything I didn't like about the book.
The book is even better than I hoped. A lot if history including immigrants from Scotland and the American revolution in addition to the wonderful coverage of trading with the Native tribes including the fur trade.
Superb narrative and very exciting. A rare gift from a white water river rat/ author. I only wish there was a Google Earth annotated track of the trip.
Enjoyed the book immensely! Very educational and interesting subject mattet that I knew very little about. The comparison between the authors trip and Mckenzie's, going back and forth between chapters made it a great read.
What a trip! How could you stand the mosquitos and flies? I can only imagine the constant agony up in the tundra. No way to really get away from those bloodsuckers!I really enjoyed the authors writing style.
This is a great read.
Incredible story about Mackenzie and Brian's journey. Couldn't put it down. Anyone who lives history and exploring will enjoy this.
Plain fabulous. One of my top reading this year so far. Marvelous. Pure joy.
